Hello all my techie friends. I hope you’re hard at work on your iOS 7 compatibility. This week we’re up to beta 5… seems like four more weeks could easily put us at GM.

Almost half of developers plan to drop support for iOS 6
This article points to a completely unscientific study, which finds that 48% of developers are updating their apps for iOS 7 with no plans of backward-compatibility. I’m dancing between both iOS 6 & 7 everyday, and l have to admit it sounds tempting to simply drop support for 6. That being said, there are some pretty nice features in Xcode 5 that help ease the challenge.

Chromecast iOS SDK (beta)
Google kind of surprised me with this cheap little TV thingamabob. Any rate, it appears they’ve sold upwards of a million of them in the past week. If your app deals in video, you can add support for Chromecast and there’s a good chance you’ll get a nice little PR bump out of it.

Objectify app
Got turned onto this by the newest member of our mobile team at ModMed – welcome, Ash. Pretty cool Mac app that will turn a snippet of JSON into Objective-C object classes.

Here’s a pair of Apple v. Samsung stories:

Samsung surpasses Apple in user satisfaction in new study
Wasn’t expecting to see something like this, although there’s a lot of different ways you can read into it. I’m not going to editorialize it, so come to your own conclusions.

Resale value of iPhone 4 increased 10% since April, Galaxy S III dropped 27%
The flip side of the Apple v. Samsung quality debate. There’s been a lot of news lately about the popularity of the iPhone 4 and 4s. Make sure you’re testing on these devices, a lot of people are still using them.

You are your own gym
This universal app guides you through a whole body workout on your iPhone or iPad, without the need for any weights or other equipment. It also tracks your progress and can remind you to workout. I love this idea. It’s based on the book of the same name, which is in turn based on military strength training regimens. $3 could save you hundreds per year in gym membership.

…and the beat goes on
Want to keep the party rocking, long after you’re gone? This company will press cremated remains into vinyl records. A little creepy, but undeniably cool. Their website heavily plays into the creepy chic factor.
