We have a date and the rumors are swirling! It’s gonna be tough waiting out the next four weeks.

iOS 7 submission date pretty much confirmed
Not a big surprise… exactly in line with what we were expecting. But it’s nice to have a more solid date to work towards. Note this is still a rumor.

Test your iAds
Had a pretty weird experience this past weekend, when I got an iAd for… iAds. It appears somebody forgot to sign the network agreement, which resulted in their app serving fake ads (and missing out on a bunch of income). Yeah, don’t do that.

Yelp outs cheating businesses
It’s a good reminder that there can be consequences for trying to game the system. This doesn’t just apply to Yelp, it applies everywhere: when you comment online about something you’re affiliated with, you must disclose that affiliation.

The monetary impact of PRISM
A lot of the discussion over the NSA’s surveillance program has focused on the privacy aspects. I thought this angle on lost revenue was pretty interesting. “Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook and Apple stand to lose as much as $35 billion over the next three years as Europeans shy away from cloud services with suspect privacy safeguards.”

Talkatone: Turn your iPad (or iPod Touch, or Android) into a phone
This app is not new, but I used it a bit over the weekend and was pretty impressed. It’s a free way to make wifi phone calls, that piggy-backs on Google Voice.

Best of Vine
The random link of the week. If you need further proof that people are generally nuts, here you go.
