Wow, we have a lot of new readers this week. Thank you @MihaiFonoage for the mention, and all of you that clicked through from there to here. For the rest of you, this week’s first link:

iOS Technical Newsletters that Everyone Should Use

Definitely found a couple here I wasn’t aware of.

iOS 7 Release Date

I keep getting asked, over and over, “When’s iOS 7 coming out?” The answer, according to Apple, is Fall. I translate that to mean mid-September to early October. I decided to do a bit more research, which turned into a blog post. Summing it up: conservatively, we have about 5 weeks left to get ready. Get on it!!!

iOS App Icon Brainstorming Sheet

There was an awesome talk at WWDC called “Best Practices for Great iOS Design,” and the first 20 minutes were solely about designing the app icon. One of the slides showed dozens of hand drawn iterations of a home screen icon. This inspired me to create a storyboard-style worksheet for brainstorming and refining new app icons. Twenty per page – print and enjoy.

Facebook shadow accounts

This story is a couple weeks old, but I mention it because in a strange way it pisses me off, even though subconsciously I knew it was happening. “According to the notice posted by Facebook on Friday, the glitch, which has since been fixed, allowed users to even download email addesses or telephone numbers not connected to any Facebook users or even names of individuals.” How? By uploading and storing the address books of everyone who allows it. And if you have a Facebook account, you’ve agreed to let them do it. Worth a read to stay informed.

140 Characters

Got a chance since WWDC to see my bud @dom again, via stopover from a conference in Cali, Colombia. Reminded me of his book, 140 Characters. I know some people are new to Twitter, while others have been there for years. Regardless, you’d do well to read this definitive style guide, a classic in its genre.

Elders react to twerking

For some reason, I like to close with a link that’s completely off-topic. Today’s is probably far too inappropriate for this newsletter, and it’s definitely NSFW, but why should that stop us? Watch it when you get home!
